These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Kajo desktop application (“App”) and kajovoice.com website (“Site”), operated by Kajo (“we”, “us”, “our”). By downloading, installing, or using the App, or by accessing the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App or Site.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Kajo. By using the App, you represent that you are 13 or older and have the authority to agree to these Terms. If you are using Kajo on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. License
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:
- Download and install the App on devices you own or control.
- Use the App for your personal or internal business purposes.
This license does not include the right to: sublicense, resell, distribute, or transfer the App; reverse engineer or decompile the App except to the extent permitted by applicable law; or use the App to build a competing product.
3. Plans and billing
3.1 Free plan
The Free plan is provided at no charge. You may use the Free core loop — on-device transcription, translation, summarization, library (including folders), cited chat, and per-file export — up to a cumulative lifetime allowance of 5 files or 150 minutes of audio, whichever comes first. Some convenience surfaces (including watch folders and batch export) require the Lifetime purchase. We reserve the right to modify Free-plan limits and included features with reasonable notice. 3.2 Lifetime purchase
Kajo offers a single paid option: a one-time Lifetime purchase that unlocks unlimited imports and Lifetime convenience (watch folders, batch export) for that version, with no recurring subscription — a one-time payment, not a subscription, and the installed version keeps working whether or not you ever update. Pricing is $49 launch / $99 standard. Current pricing is listed at kajovoice.com/pricing. Payments are processed by Paddle. There are no monthly or annual plans.
3.3 All sales final
Lifetime is a one-time digital software license delivered by email (and optionally activated via deep link). Purchases are final once payment completes — there is no cooling-off exchange and no recurring billing to cancel. Before checkout you confirm immediate digital delivery and acknowledge that any statutory right of withdrawal for this digital license does not apply. 4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Kajo to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation.
- Record or transcribe others without their knowledge and consent where legally required.
- Infringe intellectual property rights of third parties.
- Transmit malware, spam, or other harmful content.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to Kajo systems or other users’ accounts.
- Use Kajo in a way that interferes with or degrades the services for other users.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of all audio recordings, transcripts, and other content you process with Kajo (“Your Content”). Because Your Content is processed locally on your device, Kajo does not receive, store, or have access to Your Content during normal use. You are solely responsible for Your Content and for ensuring that your use of Kajo to record or transcribe others complies with applicable consent and recording laws in your jurisdiction.
6. Intellectual property
Kajo and all related technology, content, and trademarks are owned by us or our licensors. Nothing in these Terms grants you any rights in Kajo’s intellectual property except the limited license described in Section 2. Feedback you provide about Kajo may be used by us without restriction or compensation to you.
7. Disclaimers
THE APP AND SITE ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that transcription will be perfectly accurate. Speech recognition accuracy depends on audio quality, microphone hardware, background noise, accents, and other factors outside our control.
8. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL KAJO BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE APP, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO KAJO IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $100.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Kajo harmless from any claims, damages, losses, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the App, Your Content, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App or Site at any time for violation of these Terms, or for any other reason with reasonable notice. You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. Sections 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 11 survive termination.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Kajo is incorporated, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration on an individual basis, waiving any right to class action. If arbitration is not enforceable in your jurisdiction, disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of the applicable jurisdiction.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or a notice in the App at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the App.
